Crystal Bindi Studios?  Whatever does it mean?

Many of you have asked the meaning behind our new name.  At first glance it may seem like such an odd name for a business, but it does have a very special meaning, which I would like to share with you.

A “Bindi” is a jewel worn on the forehead.  In ancient cultures and some modern ones, a Bindi indicates the family you are from or your caste - social status.  It tells the world who you are.

On her forehead, My daughter Adrian chose to wear a teardrop shaped Bindi made of crystal when she danced.  Adrian’s aspirations of becoming a professional bellydancer and her desire to teach the art inspired me to continue dancing and begin teaching after her death in 2004.

By naming our studio after the jewel that Adrian chose to define her persona, we continue to honor the memory of her joyful spirit.  I sincerely hope you like the name and the meaning behind it!
