Raks Incendia

Domhnulla D and Kat Marscelle first met in the summer of 2007 as members of Dancers of the Rising Phoenix. They quickly became friends and realized their mutual love of the Tribal Fusion style. Not long after, Raks Incendia blazed onto the Beledi dance floor.

In the Spring of 2006, a friend dragged Domhnulla D to a bellydance class - and she fell in love. Under the guidance of Amira Hamzar (as a member of Dancers of the Rising Phoenix) Domhnulla has studied cabaret, Tribal Fusion, American Tribal Style, Indian, Polynesian, Bollywood and Saidi, as well as many others. She also has had the privilege of learning from Amaya and Kami Liddle, with the intention to remain a student throughout her career.

Domhnulla D has been dancing, acting, and singing since childhood. Over the years, she has studied various forms of dance, including ballet, tap, and hip-hop. She is a classically trained vocalist and has been involved in theatre since the age of eight.

She also enjoys holistic living, costuming, spending time with her family, wine tasting, and relaxing. She also is the “in-house” makeup artist for Raks Incendia and a facilitator with the Traverse City chapter of PURE ~ Public Urban Ritual Experiment.

Kat Marscelle discovered bellydance in January 2007, a new adventure in her long history of creative pursuits.

She started in cabaret, but was found to be a quick study, and she soon joined the Beledi student troupe. By that summer, she had graduated to Dancers of the Rising Phoenix There, under the direction of Amira Hamzar, she learned cabaret, Indian, Bollywood, Tribal Fusion, and Saidi .

Kat quickly discovered her love for Tribal and Gothic Fusion and it was then that she formed a bond with Domhnulla D.

Since starting bellydance, Kat has had the privilege of learning from Amira Hamzar, Amaya, Ansuya, Kami Liddle, and Rachel Brice - just to name a few.

Aside from bellydance, Kat enjoys spending time with her family, renovating their home, reading, writing, painting, and creating. Kat also creates commercial art and murals (including the one at Beledi!) She is also a facilitator with PURE ~ Public Urban Ritual Experiment.
